Lean Value Stream Mapping Using ExtendSim

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a core step of the lean transformation process. VSM is where process flows can be observed on a grand scale and waste quickly identified. This class will take you through developing a current state map of a process to simulating that process in ExtendSim. We then develop a future state of that process with a series of potential changes and investigate those changes on our process. These changes will all be investigated while in the safety of our simulation sandbox.

For those interested in furthering their ExtendSim knowledge, an optional 2 day workshop is available at the end of the program. This workshop is designed to provide the user with independent ExtendSim model building skills.

Lean in the Manufacturing Environment

Analyzing the performance of shop floor controls in the lean environment has always been a daunting challenge.  This workshop introduces kanban flow, supermarkets re-supply, and work cells. This workshop uses the ExtendSim simulation tool to predict performance. This workshop will focus on the following issues:

1. How much inventory do I need and where do I need it?

2. Given my current changeover times and takt time, what should the design cycle times be?

3. What tasks do my employees need to be assigned to inside their work cells?

The Lean Office Kick-Start

3 day team oriented workshop

This class will expedite your implementation of lean in the office and service industries. Send us your (3-5) member team and we will gear them up for a kizan blitz, transforming the office in 60-90days. The focus of this class is developing a Value Stream Map (VSM) from the customers' perspective and identifying what is key to a high quality and efficient experience.  A future state is generated integrating these items and a rapid implementation plan is developed ready for execution when they return to the office. Manager involvement is required.  

The Principles of Lean

3 day hands on workshop highlighting the core principles of the lean environment.

Through a series of games and computer simulations the basics of lean implementation are investigated and the core phenomenon highlighted. This class is designed to bring lean to life, inspiring everyone to reduce waste and improve process performance.
